Amber Speaking at the Irish Embassy in Berlin

Amber Barrett

DDG is thrilled to present Amber at the Irish Embassy in Berlin this evening…

With the pandemic and its restrictions came many challenges for social gatherings like our beloved Friday Club. With a new year and a new concept comes a new opportunity for sharing and networking. For this reason, we would like to introduce our German-Irish event series, the Irish Embassy Speakers Club! Once a month, on a mid-week evening, we invite speakers from the German-Irish community to talk about their careers, projects and initiatives. Over snacks and refreshments, you can network and get an insight into how you can make it in Germany.

As our first guest, we have invited football sensation Amber Barrett.  Barrett is a Donegal born, Irish international footballer who plays her club football with Potsdam Turbine in Germany.

In October, she inspirationally scored the winning goal against Scotland in the qualifier that sent Ireland to the Women’s World Cup, taking place in Australia and New Zealand this summer. After the game, Amber dedicated her winning goal to the victims of the Creeslough disaster in Donegal earlier that month.

Before joining Potsdam, Amber played for Cologne and Peamount United F.C. in Ireland. In the seasons 2016, 2017 and 2018 she was top scorer of the National League Ireland. In 2017, she was also awarded the Player of the Year Award.

The talk with Amber will take place on 31 January as part of the Embassy’s St Brigid’s Day celebrations.
