George Sykes-Kenworthy Signs to Derby County !

Deadline Day Signing for GSK…

DDG is delighted to confirm that we have negotiated a move to Derby County for former Bradford City U23 Goalkeeper and Captain George Sykes-Kenworthy.

The deal was announced by the Championship side on Transfer Deadline Day and George was immediately travelling with the U23s squad to the Premier League 2 Division One fixture v Chelsea at the west London Cobham training facility…

Straight into U23s squad selection travelling to Chelsea at the weekend

Steve Harrison “after a disappointing season for Bradford, with George having an early loan recall, finishing the second-half of the season as the club number two”… “we had a fair bit of interest in George, but no final decision, which was no doubt compounded by the pandemic crisis”

“In the end we had two contract offers on the final week, but at this stage George had enjoyed his trial period at Rams, and we all felt this offer to be the right one”

George began as a schoolboy at Bradford City, earning a scholarship at fifteen, and a two-year professional contract at seventeen.

He was Bradford City U18s and U23s captain and the “Young Player of the Year” in his last two season’s. He made his 1st team debut at Bradford last season.

During his time at Bradford City he was called up for the England Goalkeeper Camp at St Georges Park, and the club announced that they had turned down a substantial offer from a named Premier League Club around the same time as offering him an early professional contract.

George played on loan for Conference Guiseley side in 2019/20 making a well documented ‘miracle save’ against York City…

He has an endorsement deal with AB1 Gloves, the company owned by former Bosnian international and Chelsea, Stoke City and Bournemouth ‘keeper Asmir Begovic.

At just twenty -one years of age, George has been with DDG since the age of sixteen, he commented that “I couldn’t be happier with this new opportunity”

Congratulations George!

Thirty Years on… a typically discreet Dead Dead Good Birthday Celebration…

Well it thirty-years since the Dead Dead Good brand came on to the scene, with DDG Records and DDG Management, and here is a pretty comprehensive selection of the music artists that we have worked with in respect of album releases.

Extensively North-West of England based, with our original offices and studios in Northwich and Manchester, but not at all exclusively ‘northern’… having artists from London, Northern Ireland, Belgium, and Essex!

A fantastic and iconic list of releases from the ‘indie’ and ‘dance’ scenes across the past thirty years.

Great memories…

Joshua Kayode – Rotherham United Striker

Dead Dead Good Management is thrilled to confirm the U21 International call-up of Joshua Kayode.

The Rotherham United FC Striker is presently on season loan with Carlisle United FC.

JJ will report to the Dublin based squad on 6th October ahead of the game v Italy on 13th October

Steve Harrison of DDG:

‘I am so especially proud when we see such positive career development of a client who we have supported since he was a schoolboy’.

‘JJ has progressed right the way through junior football in Dublin, to academy football in England, into the professional game with an exceptional dedicated and professional approach.

He listens, learns and improves always… he is the consummate professional in the game and a great asset to club, country and DDG alike.

Progressing into representing his country at U21 level is the next stage of what is such a positive trajectory for JJ right now’.

He has a great deal more to offer in the future’.

Exciting Times.

Congratulations from everybody at DDG!

Sarah delivers FA Cup Quarter Final debut Strike!

FA Cup Debut for Sarah Mayling

It’s always nice to score… but even better when it’s your debut for the club, and the opener in a FA Cup Quarter-Final fixture!

Timing is everything… as is accommodating the new gaffer’s request to play up top on the right wing, as opposed to her regular starting position at right back… well it worked a treat eh!

Sarah Mayling of Birmingham City FC & England Lionesses U23 and good luck in tomorrow’s quick succession Semi-Final v Everton

Great Work Sarah!

Jake Cooper secures a Conference Loan Deal to Gateshead

We are pleased to have assisted in the negotiations to place Rotherham United and Team DDG’s Jake Cooper on a new deal with Gateshead FC in the Vanarama Conference League.

Jake signed a new three-year deal with ‘The Millers‘ in the summer, having made a number of appearances with the 1st XI before heading to the north-east to join ‘The Heed‘ for the second-half of the season.

Gateshead failed to secure promotion in a dramatic semi-final game away to Boston United.

A case of unfinished business for Coops, and no doubt more experience, ahead of and expected return to the Millers in the Championship in the new year.

Jake: ‘I enjoyed my first loan and the experience, and as soon as I knew there was interest again, it was something I tried to get over the line as quickly as possible…’

Steve Harrison ‘ we are thrilled to see Jake return, especially given that Gateshead will start the new season as one of the favourites, and given that the set-up is fulltime, then we are sure that the experience will see him return to the New York Stadium, a more experienced and improved player, and ready for his next progression into Championship football’.

‘DDG is a big advocate of loan deals… on the provision that it works for all parties’.

JJ Secures a Sky Bet/EFL League Two “Team of the Week” place

Terrific to see “JJ” score his fifth in seven for Carlisle United at the weekend but also get himself on the Sky Bet/EFL League Two “Team-of-the-Week” which is purely based on performance stats….

Steve Harrison DDG MD: “JJ’s work-rate was outstanding in what was an impressive performance from the Cumbrians, and was lovely to see it didn’t go unnoticed at the mothership, with Rotherham United‘s social media and fans alike praising their loan striker”

It’s a little over two years since JJ made his debut international performance for the Republic of Ireland U18s, and we wonder what next for the former Dublin St Francis FC schoolboy who signed to #TeamDDG on his 16th Birthday… he is certainly delivering and progressing in a stealth like way.

Onwards and Upwards JJ!

JJ makes his international debut in Dublin in 2018. A proud moment for JJ, family and DDG alike…

4th Rig Single released via the new DDG digital platform today (18-9-20)

Rig – Manchester band reissued from circa thirty years ago…

Today we released the fourth single by Rig on our new digital platform.

A DDG band sitting comfortably on the outside looking in. As everything got very Madchester and Ravetastic in the area, they continued to produce excellent and timeless recordings out of the infamous Strawberry Recording Studios in Stockport.

Fellow contemporaries at the time would be bands that kind of fused the Acid House scene but empowered themselves with guitars and drums… Early Happy Mondays, New Fads, Paris Angels, and later outside of the Mancunian bubble came the likes of Flowered Up and The Twang would be on the same wavelength.

The final re-issue is ‘Moody’ (GOOD43) which was originally released as a 12″ White Label and was a cover version of the seminal New York Bronx Factory Records act ESG, a band that went on to be one of the most sampled bands on the Hip Hop scene.

‘Bighead’ (GOOD3) was the third release on the label following The Charlatans debut ‘Indian Rope’ (GOOD1), and Katherine E ‘I’m Alright’ (GOOD2), the huge Italian House anthem discovered by James Barton of Cream and Quadrant Park fame.

‘Spank’ followed (GOOD7), and we released the bands 1st single ‘Dig’ (GOOD42), last week.

We look-forward to delivering and sharing the recently discovered and now remastered debut album by Rig… details soon.

Dan Hawkins Signs new deal at Salford City FC

Great Expectations for this exciting Attacking Midfielder from Wales

We are so pleased to confirm our fifth deal of this window for 2020/21 and it’s a hugely important one for Dan Hawkins, as he secures his second professional contract with Salford City FC.

Nineteen year-old Dan has been part of the DDG Family since his scholarship move from Swansea City to Hull City. We have seen him grow and grow into a really exciting prospect in the game.

Fast, tenacious, dedicated and boundless enthusiasm and a real proven game changer who scored and assisted over twenty goals with the Salford U23s, whilst on loan at Stafford Rangers and Marine AFC last season!

Dan has already played in three of the current crop of pre-season friendlies for the Salford City 1st XI and we all await an opportunity on the big stage, as his career progresses.

We would like to think Dan is already an obvious candidate for the Welsh U21 squad with such flair and endeavour in the game.

Congratulations Dan and his Family from everybody at Dead Dead Good Towers!
